On the occasion of the handover of the partial estate of the physiologist and co-founder of cell theory Theodor Schwann (1810-1882) to the Ernst-Haeckel-Archive, we invite Schwann's heirs to a festive event on October 21, 2022. In November 2021 they handed over particularly valuable manuscripts of the physiologist as a loan to the Friedrich Schiller University. Schwann's partial estate, which was previously stored in the Medical History Museum of the Berlin Charité, includes his experimental diaries, scientific journals and drafts. This corpus of sources provides new insights into the genesis, significance and further development of his cell theory and significantly enriches the Ernst-Haeckel-Archive's collection on the history of biology and culture in the 19th century.
