Manuscripts of Theodor Schwann
New in the Archive of the Ernst-Haeckel-Haus: Manuscripts from the Estate of the Cell Theorist Theodor Schwann (1810-1882)
Published:
Since November 30, 2021, the Ernst-Haeckel-Haus has housed particularly valuable manuscripts from the estate of physiologist and co-founder of cell theory Theodor Schwann, which were previously stored in the Medical History Museum of the Berlin Charité. Schwann's heirs have given his experimental diaries, scientific journals, and drafts on loan to Friedrich Schiller University. Their wish is that Schwann's work be researched and made accessible to the interested public.
A project to index the unpublished work of Theodor Schwann has been in progress since 2017 under the direction of Dr. Florence Vienne
